PROTECT YOUR EYES WITH
BLUE BARRIER
Blue light emitted from most modern devices is associated with eye fatigue, sleeplessness and serious ocular damage.
Our Blue Barrier lenses were created with effective blue light filtering properties in the material. Combined with our LuxAR Clear Blue coating, it is the most effective blue light protection available! Blue Barrier lenses can be incorporated into virtually any pair of frames, so you can choose frame that best compliments every patient’s style! Blue Barrier is also perfect for children as it provides protection even without a delicate coating.
Our Blue Barrier is a lens material that has UV and HEV light absorbing properties in the material. It is not a coating and as such will not be removed during the life of the lens. While Blue Barrier is not a lens coating, the lens will accept an optional surface coating for either anti-reflective properties (LuxAR Standard, LuxAR U, LuxAR ES) or additional blue-protection (LuxAR Blue or LuxAR Clear Blue)

Blue Barrier material is available with all Jena Brand lens designs. Blue Barrier is available in standard, thin, polycarbonate and ultra thin materials. Our Zero Blue is a combination of our Blue Barrier lens with our LuxAR Clear Blue coating for the most effective blue light protection available.

WHAT IS
BLUE LIGHT?
Emitted by a myriad of modern screens from televisions to phones. With almost any display, blue light — a certain grade of high-energy visible (HEV) light on the color spectrum — is believed to disrupt the natural circadian rhythms that guide your sleep, as well as possibly trigger headaches and eye strain after prolonged exposure. High energy light may also have long term health risks to your retina – that part of your eye that converts light to nerve signals.
If you’re battling chronic headaches, sleeplessness, or eye strain from being in front of screens a lot, a pair of blue light glasses may help alleviate some of these symptoms.

BLUE BARRIER & ZERO BLUE BENEFITS
Blue light filters are embedded in the material of our Blue Barrier lens. With the addition of LuxAR Clear Blue, the maximum protection is achieved with Zero Blue.
Blue light from electronic devices can actually keep you up at night. Minimize sleep disruption by filtering blue light so it does not disrupt our circadian rhythm (also known as the sleep/wake cycle)
Reduce eye strain from staring at eletronic screens. Because short-wavelength, high energy blue light scatters more easily than other visible light, it is not as easily focused. This unfocused visual "noise" reduces contrast and can contribute to digital eye strain.
Decrease risk of macular degeneration with an effective blue light blocker. Too much exposure to blue light can damage light-sensitive cells in the retina. This can cause macular degeneration, which can lead to permanent vision loss.
Cataracts sufferers that underwent cataract surgery are more vulnerable to blue light. Find out whether your intraocular lens (IOL) has sufficient UV protection.
